Purpose: Under the guidance of acupuncture theories of traditional Chinese medicine and in combination with modern research means and basis on summary of acupuncture medical books, this paper provides a summary of the rules for selection of acupoint in treatment of insomnia with the entry point of insomnia through data mining technology.Method: Set Chinese Medical as the retrieval platform; selected acupuncture and moxibustion prescriptions related to insomnia symptoms, established database and sorted up;summarized acupoints optimization rule on acupuncture and moxibustion treatment on insomnia.Result:The paper set Chinese Medical as research object, performed retrieval for the collected1156 literatures and established database, recorded 243 prescriptions, containing 193 records on single acupoint treatment, 31 records on acupoints, 19 multiple-acupoint. A total of 71 acupoints were recorded, belonging to twelve meridians, governor meridian, Ren meridian,and mostly as the Urinary Bladder Meridian of Foot-Taiyang, distributing at head, neck and body cadres and limbs, especially on limbs. Specific acupoints have absolute predominance during the selection process, especially selection of five acupoints.Conclusion:Based on analysis of commonly used acupoints taken by ancient physicians on acupuncture and moxibustion therapy of insomnia, specific acupoint predominance rules on acupuncture and moxibustion therapy of insomnia are summarized as follows: Firstly, select the acupoints according to meridians and follow meridian dialectical as theoretical basis;secondly, synergistic effects of acupoints for coordinate application; thirdly, specific acupoints preponderance plays the specific curative effect preponderance; fourthly, combining with modern research, take traditional acupuncture theory as well as modern scalp-acupuncture technology.
