| ObjectiveIn order to gain a better understand of the current situation about quality of lifeamong13-18years old adolescents in school with the help of Pediatric Quality ofLife Inventory4.0(PedsQL4.0) and World Health Organization Quality ofLife-BREF (WHOQOL-BREF). We make a comparison about the adaptability of lifequality between PedsQL4.0and WHOQOL-BREF. We can not only take it as a verypractical tool to understand the living quality, but also it can provide us advices toimprove the quality of life among adolescents.MethodsMake a survey of300adolescents who are between13years old and18yearsold in high school during December of2013and March of2014. The survey toolincludes three parts: General information, PedsQL4.0and WHOQOL-BREF. UseEpiData3.0and SPSS17.0to input and analysis the data. Statistical methods includeDescriptive analysis, correlation coefficient method, the reliability analysis and factoranalysis.Results1.300questionnaires were sent out,300were recollected,7invalidquestionnaires, finally293were effective, the effective rate was97.60%.2.The average score is78.26poing in PedsQL4.0. And the social domain goesthe highest, the emotion domain goes the lowest. Ceiling effect obviously appear onlyin social domain. There is no evident ceiling effect and floor effect in other domains.3.The average score is65.38point in WHOQOL-BREF. And the social domaingoes the highest, the environmental domain goes the lowest. There is no evidentceiling effect and floor effect in any domains.4.The Cronbach’s α of Internal consistency reliability in PedsQL4.0is0.93, thesplit-half reliability is0.86. The Cronbach’s α exceeds0.80in four sides. 5.The Cronbach’s α of Internal consistency reliability in WHOQOL-BREF is0.91, the split-half reliability is0.89. The Cronbach’s α exceeds0.70in all sidesexcept that of social side. The Cronbach’s α is less than0.60in social side.6. Adopt the item-correlation analysis method to analyze the validity of PedsQL4.0. There is a good relativity between items and their affiliated domain (r>0.60).But there is a bad relativity with other domain (r<0.60). So the validity of PedsQL4.0is high. Using the exploratory-factor analysis method to analyze the constructvalidity,then5factors were used, which explain the68.87%of total variation.7.Adopt the item-correlation analysis method to analyze the validity ofWHOQOL-BREF. There is a good relativity between item8and environmentaldomain. And there is a bad relativity between item1&8and environmental domain. There is a bad relativity between item24and mental domain. There is a goodrelativity between environmental domain and its item. So the validity of PedsQL4.0is low. Using the exploratory-factor analysis method to analyze the construct validity,then5factors were used, which explain the64.68%of total variation.8.The correlation of total scores in PedsQL4.0and WHOQOL-BREF is0.49.The correlation between QOL and other items is of no significance.Conclusions1.There is a great need in psychosocial domain of adolescents in school. Weshould strengthen the communication and education.2.In PedsQL4.0, not only the number is reasonable, but also the method issimple. Besides, the content is easy to understand, and it is of high pertinence. And itholds a better psychological characteristics.3.Comparing with WHOQOL-BREF, PedsQL4.0is more suitable for us toevaluate the adaptability of life quality scale of13-18years old adolescents in school. |
