Background With the acceleration of aging of population and the prevalence ofhypertension continuously increasing in our country, the prevalence of elderly hypertensivepatients is rising year by year. Compared with general elderly population, retired militarycadres have strong consciousness of health care and sophisticated medical resources.However, many organizations have reported that hypertension is still one of the highestmorbidity of chronic diseases in medical checkup in recent years. Along with thetransformation of medical model, health-related quality of life of patients with chronicdiseases has been paid more and more attention. Researches about the quality of life andrelative factors in elderly hypertensive patients will contribute to appropriate selection ofintervention measure, increasing the rate of blood pressure control, reduce complicationsand improving quality of life.Objective To investigate the general situation of blood pressure and quality of life inretired military cadres with hypertension, explore influencing factors related to quality oflife and put forward relevant suggestions, then, provide a reference foundation for preventionand healthcare of hypertension in retired military cadres.Method This study aimed at retired militarycadresinourschool’s sanatoriums and havebeen diagnosed with essential hypertension, and was carried by household surveys. Wemeasured their blood pressure, investigate general condition, living habits, hypertensionrelated information and other chronic diseases. The quality of life was evaluated by SF-36,the results of blood assay were analyzed in our hospital, and SPSS19.0was used to processand analyze data.Results1. Among107objects, there were93male cases (86.9%) and14female cases(13.1%), all the objects aged78to100years old, the mean age was84.68±3.46years old. ingeneral, objects controlled blood pressure well, the average SBP was135.18±13.12mmHg,the average DBP was71.07±8.85mmHg.2. The average score of quality of life was32.50~90.75(67.53±13.96), and the average score of8dimensions were as follows: PE57.66±22.49、RP68.69±35.70、BP67.64±24.25、GH52.26±18.02、VT53.46±13.61、SF75.70±17.66、RE87.23±27.34、MH77.57±11.87.78%objects’ quality of life was medium, the rest was good.3. Both univariate analysis and logistic analysis showed that the risk factors of qualityof life were longer time of retirement, lower extremity edema and more kinds of drugs ofevery day, and the protective factor of quality of life was exercises regularly. Educationalbackground,BMI, drinking alcohol, drinking dairy, family history of hypertention and so onaffected some dimensions.Conclusion1. Retired military cadres with hypertention have strong consciousness ofhealth care and sophisticated medical resources, most of them control blood pressure well.2. The overall quality of life of retired military cadres was medium, the physical healthrelated dimensions were low and mental health related dimensions were higher.3. Wesuggested that give more attention to those retired military with longer time of retirement,try to reduce the kinds of medicine on the premise of guarantee clinical results, prevent andtreat lower extremity edema actively, encourage them keep exercises regularly, controlweight, moderate drinking, drinking dairy evry day, then achieve the aim of improvingquality of life.
