| ObjectiveTo investigate the relationship between fasting blood glucose(FBG)and short-term outcomes of patients with acute myocardialinfarction.MethodsAccording to the diabetes history and admission FBG levels,172patients with AMI were stratified into three groups: normal FBG group(n=60), high FBG group (n=80) and diabetes group(n=32). Thecomplication of congestive heart failure and cardiac death wree assessedwith risk factors further analysed.ResultsThere were no significant differences in the basic clinical conditionsand examinations. The proportion of the elderly, anterior wall myocardialinfarction, Killip class II-IV were higher in high FBG group and diabetesgroup. Considering the in-hospital cardiovascular events, includingcongestive heart failure and cardiogenic death, the high FBG group anddiabetes group were higher, too.Admission FBG levels were related to theincidence of congestive heart failure and cardiogenic death, regardless ofthe presence of diabetes mellitus.ConclusionFBG levels were related to the incidence of congestive heart failure and cardiogenic death. |
