Purpose To compare postoperative visual acuity and subjective visual quality after bilateral implantation of diffractive Tecnis lenses with monofocal lenses.Method A retrospective case study.42 patients who suffered from age-related cataract and underwent phacoemulsification were selected.Based on the principle of voluntary,patients were devided into multifocal group and monofocal group by receiving diffractive Tecnis multifocal lenses(ZMB00,AMO) or monofocal lenses(ZCB00,AMO).Afer 3 months,Uncorrected and corrected visual acuity at 5m、60cm、30cm distance and best distance corrected near visual acuity of monocular and binocular were measured.Meanwhile,postoperative objective visual quality,need for spectacles,photic phenomena and overall satisfication were evaluated using a questionnare.All the data were analysised by SPSS 19.0 software.The independent-samples t-test was used to compare the measure data.The chi-square test was applied to compare categorical variables with P<0.05 as statistically significance.Results Follow-up after 3 months observation,no significant difference was found in corrected distance and near VA between the two groups(P>0.05),they both achieved exellent corrected distance and near VA;The MIOL group was worse in intermediate distance VA than that of SIOL group,but there was no statistically difference between them(P>0.05);Obvious difference was found in UCNVA and distance-corrected near VA of the two groups,MIOL groups was better than SIOL group(P=0.000);Binocular uncorrected and corrected VA was better than monocular at all distances.There was no signifant difference in subjective visual qualtiy(t=1.582,P=0.121);Significant difference was found in spectacle independence between two groups(t=3.852,P=0.001);the MIOL group suffered more glare and halos than SIOL group,but there was no statiscally significance(P=0.062); The overall satisfaction was equal between the two groups(P=0.861).Conclusion 1.Diffractive Tenis MIOL could offer exellent distant and near visual acuity and accommodative amplitude.The VA decreases significantly at intermediate range,which might reduce the quality of life for patients who need excellent vision at intermediate range.2.MIOL could achieve exellent objective visual quality,better spectacle independence and overall satisfaction.
