| Objective:To analyzed the relationship between the score of overactive bladder symptoms(OAB)and concentration of nerve growth factor(NGF) in urine of spinal cord injury patients.Methods:93 patients with bladder dysfunction who had traumatic spinal cord injury were chosen. They had been treated in First Hospital and Second Hospital of Shanxi Medical University from February 2013 to November 2014. And 30 normal adult were selected as control group, they are similar constituent ratio of age and gender as spinal cord injury patients. All urine samples were obtained at an urge sensation to void in morning, and the concentration of NGF was measured by ELISA. The OABSS score was carried out for all the person, and the spinal cord injury patents with OAB symptoms were classified according to the OABSS score. We use the method of T Test, one-way ANOVA and Pearson correlation test to analyse the data.Results:1. There are significance different of NGF concentration between the normal group and the spinal cord injury patents(P<0.05),it was(5.18 ± 2.19)pg/ml VS(39.32 ±10.71)pg/ml.2. There are not significance different of NGF concentration between the traumatic spinal cord injury patients who has no OAB symptoms and normal group(P<0.05),it was(6.35±2.23)pg/ml VS(5.18±2.19)pg/ml.3. There are significance different of NGF concentration between the patients who has OAB symptoms and another patients who has no OAB symptoms accompanied by traumatic spinal cord injury bladder dysfunction,(P<0.05),it was(35.42±10.18) pg/ml VS(6.35±2.23)pg/ml.4. There are significance different of NGF concentration among the traumatic spinal cord injury patients with mild, moderate and severe OAB symptomsby One-way ANOVA(P<0.05).it was(21.81±8.37)pg/ml,(33.54±10.63) pg/ml and(55.28±17.13)pg/ml.5. There was positive correlation(r=0.752, P<0.001) between the urine NGF concentration and severity of patients with OAB symptoms. Conclusion:There is remarkable positive correlation of NGF concentration between patients with and without OAB symptoms accompanied by traumatic spinal cord injury bladder dysfunction and normal group. The higher NGF concentration, the more severity of patients’ OAB symptoms. The NGF may be molecular biological basis for OAB symptoms after spinal cord injury, and it could be used as one of the basis of OAB symptom classification in spinal cord injury. |
