Objective:To analyze multiple trauma patients’ clinical features, provide the basis for disease assessments, diagnoses and treatments, and outcome prediction to the multiple trauma patients, check the application value of the New injury severity score in evaluating the multiple trauma patients’ conditions, prognosis and complication, and enhance the efficiency and level of the treatment of multiple trauma. Methods:By collecting the clinical data of multiple trauma patients of more than 1023 cases cured in the second People’s Hospital of Fujian Province during January, 2011 to January, 2014, record the factors in aspects of age, gender, injury data, and major injury regions and so on and trace the data of patients’ treatment process; compute the New injury severity score and identify the dependency between the New injury severity score and the factors such as patient flow, complication and prognosis and so on; analyze the predictive indexes such as the sensitivity and specificity of the New injury severity score in predicting the treatment outcome and complications in different score sections;compute the value of area and best cut-offpoint of New injury severity score receiver under the Receiver operating characteristic curve; evaluate the ability of the New injury severity score in assessing the multiple trauma patients’ prognosis and complication.Results:41.The average New Injury Severity Score of multiple trauma patients of 1023 cases is 17.7±6.9, the cure rate is 92.1 %, the death rate is 7.9 %, and the complication’s occurrence rate is 21.2%. 2.The New injury severity score comparative differences of patients in survival case with different major injury regions don’t have statistical significance; New injury severity score comparative difference of the patients in dead cases has statistical significance(F=3.49,P<0.05); score of pelvis and limbs group is higher than those of the craniocerebral injury group and abdomen injury group anddoesn’t have differences from the chest injury group. 3.The comparative difference of death rate and complication’s occurrence rate in different score sections have statistical significance(P<0.05). 4.The New injury severity score predicts the complication’s area under the Receiver operating characteristic curve as 0.81, the best cut-offpoint value as20 points, the sensitiveness as 67.7%, specificity as 86.1% and accuracy as 82.2%.New injury severity score predicts the ending area under Receiver operating characteristic curve as 0.84, the best cut-offpoint value as 20 points, sensitiveness as84.0%, specificity as 79.7%, and accuracy as 80.0%.Conclusions:The New injury severity score has a good resolution, can accurately evaluate the condition severity, effective intervention and outcome of the multiple trauma patients, and its optimal threshold value is 20. By the New injury severity score, we can implement proper clinical treatment to the patients in the early days.
