Objective To observe the clinic curative effect of perceptual learning in amblyopia. Methods 48 patients (77 eyes) with amblyopia,25 males and 23 females, were trained by the perceptual learning. The range of age of patients were 6-18 years old, with a mean age of 8.35 years old.48 patients were classified in three types:ametropic amblyopia with 18 patients (31 eyes), anisometropic amblyopia with 21 patients (31 eyes),and strabismic amblyopia with 9 patients (15 eyes).Every patient should to see the ophthalmologist once a month, and do examinations. The examinations include:the visual acuity and the visual functioal examination(the content of the visual functioal examination:contrast sensitivity suppression, foveal suppression, random-dot stereopsis and wide range stereopsis).According to the examination result, the amblyopic patients were treated with perceptual learning system. To observe the efficacy, compared before and after treatment the best corrected visual acuity (BCVA) and visual function. Results All patients were followed up for 3-11months, the average are 5.90months. After treatment, the total efficiency was 80.52%, including 50.65% basic heal and 29.87% progress. Conclusion Perceptual learning is a targeted treatment of amblyopia, and that treatment is built based on the optic nerve pathway model. Perceptual learning is an effective method by plasticity therapy against all types of amblyopia. This kind of treatment method can significantly improve eyesight and visual function of amblyopia.
