ObjectiveTo analysis the relativity of the parameters between impulse oscillmetory system (IOS) and pulmonary function test (PFT),and to provide some advices about clinical application of IOS.MethodsSeven hundred ninety nine children (264 girls and 535 boys) sequentially evaluated in a pediatric clinic of Asthma specialist out-patient and under medical care for disease, were asked to perform IOS and PFT. To avoid IOS results being affected by forced expiratory, we should perform IOS first, then PFT.Results1、The correlations between parameters measured by IOS such as R5 and measured by PFT such as FEV1 was significantly negative (p<0.05), X5 and FEV1 was significantly positive (p<0.05). whereas Fres、R20 and FEV1 were no significant (p>0.05)2、The correlations between Fres、R5、R20 and PEF were significantly negative (p<0.05), whereas X5 and PEF was significantly positive (p <0.05).3、The correlations between Fres、R5、R20 and FEF75 were significantly negative (p<0.05), whereas X5 and FEF75 was significantly positive (p>0.05).4、The correlations between Fres、R5、X5 and FEF50 was significantly negative (p<0.05), X5 and FEF50 was significantly positive (p<0.05). whereas R20 and FEF50 were no significant (p>0.05)5、The correlations between R5 and MMEF was significantly negative (p<0.05), X5 and MMEF was significantly positive (p<0.05). whereas Fres、R20 and MMEF were no significant (p>0.05)6、FVC was not correlated to all of the parameters of IOS.Conclusions1、There was a significant correlation between IOS and PFT, should be considered as both an adjunct, and in some situations, especially in young children, an alternative to standard PFT.2、There was a significant correlation between IOS and PFT in Asthma patients, we should evaluate the change of airflow obstruction in children with asthma, X5 can also be used to reflect the change of respiratory compliance.3、IOS is a noninvasive approach that easily and objectively measures lung impedance and should be considered as children’s pulmonary function testing milestone.
