Objective: To study the relationship between serum Cys C level and the severity of heart failure and evaluate the short-term prognosis of heart failure. Methods: We were enrolled 282 cases of heart failure with reduced left ventricular ejection fractions(HF-REF)Which had diagnosed by the cardiology Department in the Fifth Affiliated Hospital of Xinjiang Medical University among January 2013 to June 2015. All patients were divided into mild HF-REF group(cardiac function grade II), moderate HF-REF group(cardiac function grade III), and severe group HF-REF(cardiac function grade IV) according to the heart function classification of New York Heart Association(NYHA).We slected 52 cases out-patients or physical examination people as control group. In the control group, there was no history of HF and the symptoms and signs. The heart color Doppler ultrasonography indicated that LVEF was more than 50%.The control group had no HF history and clinical manifestation, and Heart color Doppler Ultrasound showed the LVEF was more than 50%.We collected and logged the general information of all the research objects as well as the serum Cys C, NT-pro BNP, LVEDd, and LVEF etc. Using SPSS 20.0 software to analysis the relationship between Cys C level and the severity of heart failure and prompted that who were dead or rehospitalization within six months to understand the value of short-term prognosis. Results: 1.NT-proBNP, Cr, BUN, Cys C, UA and LVEDd of HF-REF group was statistically significant higher than the control group(P<0.05); while LVEF was significantly lower than the control group(P<0.05). 2.If the classification of heart function increased, the level of serum Cys C 、serum Cr and serum BUN also increase(P<0.05). Conclusion: 1.HF-REF patients serum Cys C levels have increased significantly. 2. As the serum Cys C increased, the risk of rehospitalization and death were higher in a short time.
