Objective: 1.To understand the level of family members illness uncertainty of patients with craniocerebral injury. 2.To understand the coping style of family members when they facing their sick relatives. 3.To understand the level of Social support level of patients with craniocerebral injury. 4.To explore the influencing factors of family members illness uncertainty among patients with craniocerebral injury. 5.To analyze the relationship between the relationships between fam ily members illness uncertainty with coping style and Social support. It will provide the basis for patients’ family members take intervention mea sures to reduce the disease uncertainty. Methods: By random sampling, the study selects 110 cases of craniocerebral injury family members of patients with craniocerebral injury, which is in accordance with the invlusive criteria and exclusive criteria during December 2014 to October 2015 in Department of cerebral surgery of a hospital in Hunan Province.Family members of patients were investigated by the general information questionnaire, Mishel Uncertainty in illness Scale for family member(Chinese version), Simplified Coping Style Questionnaire and socialsupport rating scale. We use SPSS18.0 statistical software to analyze and process the data.Statistical methods include descriptive statistics analysis, t-Test, analysis of variance, Kruskal-Willis H test and multiple linear stepwise regression, Spearman related analysis and so on.Results: 1.The total score of family members’ illness uncertainty of patients with craniocerebral injury is(89.90±12.71points), The average item score of per dimension from high to low is unpredictable(3.46±1.25points), uncertainty(3.04±1.12points), complexity(2.89±1.11points), lack of information(2.69±0.98points). 2.The average item score of positive coping style(1.88±0.93points) is higher than that of the negative coping style(1.19±1.06points).The positive coping style and negative coping style scores of family members of patients compared with the norm, the differences are statistically significant(P<0.01). 3.The level of social support in family members of patients with craniocerebral injury is between 29 to 55 points, and the total score is(41.14±5.90points).The three dimension’ scores of subjective support, objective support and support for using are respectively(22.24±3.23points),(12.32±2.00points),(6.58±2.13points). 4.Univariate analysis shows that among general informations of patie nts, the days of hospitalization, medical expenses form of payment, admission GCS score and with or without chronic diseases effect the illness uncertainty of family members of patients with craniocerebral injury, the difference is statistically significant(P<0.05);among general information s of family members, the age, education level, patient relationship, occupatio n, family monthly income, place of residence and with or without chroni c diseases have influence on the illness uncertainty of family members o f patients with craniocerebral injury, the difference is statistically signific ant(P<0.05).Multiple linear stepwise regression analysis shows that if w e put education(x6), admission GCS score(x4), whether patients sufferin g from chronic diseases(x2), length of hospital stay(x1), residence(X10) and occupation(x8) into the regression equation(R2=0.693).the fitting multivariate linear regression equation is statistically significant(F=38.668, P = 0.000). 5.Spearman correlation analysis shows that the illness uncertain sense and its uncertainty, complexity, lack of information dimension and positive coping style of family members of patients with craniocerebral injury are different degree of negative correlation, the difference is statistically significant(P<0.05); The illness uncertain feeling of family members of patients with craniocerebral injury and its each dimension are different degree of negative correlation with social support including subjective support and the using for support, the difference is statistically significant(P<0.05).Conclusions: 1.The total score of family members’ illness uncertainty of patients with craniocerebral injury is(89.90±12.71points).the level is in the middle level. 2.The family members of patients with craniocerebral injury mainly have a more positive coping style after relatives get sick. 3.The total score of social support in family members of patients with craniocerebral injury is(41.14±5.90points).the level is in the middle level. 4.family members’ education, the days of hospitalization, place of residence, occupation and the GCS score when the patients are admitted to hospital and whether suffering from chronic diseases are the main factors of the family members’ illness uncertainty. 5.The family members’ illness uncertainty of patients with craniocere bral injury is negatively correlated with social support and coping style.
