ObjectiveTo observe the clinical effect of qing nang ban long wan on the treatment of cancer related anemia with the deficiency of kidney and spleen.MethodsThe cases to study is from the first oncology department of the first affiliated hospital of Guangzhou university of Chinese medicine. The cases are divided into the treatment group and the control group. There are 24 cases in the treatment group and 23 cases in the control group. The patients in the treatment group receive the treatment of qing nang ban long wan for 14 days, otherwise receive the same treatment as the control group. The control group receive no treatment of anemia except supportive treatment. The hemoglobin value, the score of the zheng of Chinese medicine and the score of KPS are recorded at the first day and the 14th day of the study. The statistics are analyzed by the SPSS 22.0 software to compare the effect on anemia, zheng of Chinese medicine and the KPS between the treatment group and the control group.ResultsThe hemoglobin value rises by 4.75g/L on average in the treatment group, while the value decreases by 3.39g/L in the control group on average. The difference is statistically significant (P<0.05). However, when it comes to anemia clinical improvement, there are only 16.67% cases with clinical improvement on anemia, compared to the 8.70% in the control group. The difference is statistically insignificant (P>0.05). So the improvement of anemia of the treatment group is not better the the control group. As to the effect on the zheng of Chinese medicine, there are 91.67% cases in the treatment group whose zheng of Chinese medicine are improved, compared to the 8.70% in the control group. The difference is statistically significant (P<0.05). So the improvement of zheng of Chinese medicine in the treatment group is better than the control group. As to the effect on the KPS, there are 62.50% cases in the treatment group whose KPS are improved, compared to the 8.70% in the control group. The difference is statistically significant (P<0.05). So the improvement of KPS in the treatment group is better than the control group. The last but not least, there are no cases in both group whose functions of liver and kidney are impaired. However, there are more cases in the treatment group having the symptoms of dry mouth, throat pain and nausea than the control group. The difference is statistically insignificant (P>0.05).ConclusionQing nang ban long wan can not improve anemia in the patients with cancer related anemia and the deficiency of kidney and spleen. However, it can improve the zheng of Chinese medicine and the quality of life.
