Objective:A single institute review of the clinical presentation, pathological and molecular biological characteristics between male breast cancer patients and female breast cancer patients, collection comprehensive data on clinical pathological presentation and management of male breast cancer may help to optimize the Clinical care. Methods: Male and female breast cancer patients in Stage Ⅰ~Ⅲ were enrolled from January 2011 to December 2015 in Sir Run Run Shaw Hospital of Zhejiang University, Including 11 male patients and 44 female patients, clinical and pathological feature were analyzed in two groups, including age at first diagnosis, the interval between initial symptom and first diagnosis, histologic type, tumor size, axillary lymph node status, cTNM stage, estrogen receptor (ER) status, progesterone receptor (PR) status and epidermal growth factor receptor 2 (Her-2).Results:Compared with female, male breast cancer patients were composed of larger proportion of elder patients (especially over 55 years old), (P<0.001),longer interval between initial symptom and first diagnosis (P=0.032),, More ER, PR,Her-2 positive ones (P=0.001,P< 0.001, P<0.001). There were larger proportion of subtype patients with Luminal B, than subtype patients with Luminal A, Her-2 over expression and Basal-like; There was not significantly different in histologic type, axillary lymph node involvement and stage between two groups (P>0.05). Conclusion:The prognostic factors in male breast cancer patients may be worse than those of female breast cancer. It indicated that the key to male breat cancer treatment was early discovery, early diagnosis and individualized treatment.
