The source of Pouzolzia Zeylanica(L.) Benn. Var. Microphylla(Wedd.) W.T.Wang is Urticaceae, Pouzolzia, Pouzolzia Zeylanica(L.) Benn. Var. Microphylla(Wedd.) W.T. Wang’s dried entire grass or with the whole grass roots, also known as Nong Jianxiao, Shi Zhuzi, Sip pus Cream and so on. It is bitter and cold, which can be lungs through, with the effects of detoxifying, antiphlogistic, detumescence and drawing out the pus, so it mainly theraphies carbuncle, scrofula, diarrhea, vomiting blood, hemorrhage of trauma, women’s leucorrhea diseases, etc. It is conventional Chinese herbal medicine in southern China as Guangdong, Guangxi, Yunnan Province,also distributed and used in Japan, India, Australia and other countries.It is found that, the part of petroleum ether of Pouzolzia Zeylanica in Pouzolzia has good antioxidant activity. In addition, our research group has proven the parts of ethanol and ethyl acetate have better anti-inflammatory activity. Therefore, the chemical constituents of the effective parts are needed to study, to lay a foundation for further research on the effective material of the plant.In the first part of this article, the research progress of chemical constituents and pharmacological activity about Pouzolzia at home and abroad during last twenty years are summarized. In the second part, a variety of methods of chromatographic separation and spectroscopy identification were used, and eight compounds were purified from the extracts of petroleum ether, ethyl acetate and ethanol of Pouzolzia Zeylanica(L.) Benn. Var. Microphylla(Wedd.) W.T. Wang, respectively are:Pouzolignan K(1), 6,7-dimethyl-1-(2,3,4,5-tetrahydroxypentyl)-1,4-dihydroquinoxaline-2,3-dione(2), apigenin-6-C-α-L-arabinoside-8-C-β-Dglucoside(3), apigenin-8-C-α-L-arabinopyranosyl-(1â†'6)-O-β-D-glucopyranoside(4), robinin(5), kaempferol-3,7-O-α-L-dirhamnopyranoside(6), quercetin-3,7-O-α-L-dirhamnopyranoside(7), friedelin(8). They are including a stilbene, a alkaloid,five flavonoid glycosides and a friedelane triterpene. Compound 1 is a new compound.Compound 2 to 6 are isolated from this genus firstly. On the basis of the research on the chemical constituents, combining with the literature, this paper speculated biosynthetic pathway of the new compound-Pouzolignan K, and summarized the structures’ spectral characteristics of flavonoid glycosides of carbon and oxygen in this plant.Above research results increase the structural diversity of compounds from Pouzolzia Zeylanica(L.) Benn. Var. Microphylla(Wedd.) W.T. Wang, and provide the material basis for further research on biological activity.
