| In recent years, with the widespread use of advanced neuroimaging techniques and the aging of the population, more and more asymptomatic small unruptured intracranial aneurysms(sUIA) are incidentally detected in clinical practice.Studies have shown that the prevalence of unruptured intracranial aneurysms(UIAs) is 2%-3% in adults, and more than 2/3 of them are small aneurysms <7mm in diameter.Usually these s UIAs do not have any symptoms and the risk of rupture is lower. They are also known as incidental or asymptomatic aneurysms, but they are not without the risk of rupture absolutely.Once ruptured, they may cause some serious consequences such as subarachnoid hemorrhage(SAH).At present, there is no unified opinion about whether to conduct conservative treatment or surgical clipping or endovascular interventional therapy. This article reviews the latest research progress of sUIAs(<7mm in diameter),hoping to provide more evidence for clinical assessment,decision-making,and individual treatment of this kind of aneurysms. |
