ObjectiveTo analysis the burden of diseases(BOD) and the economic burden of diseases(EBOD) in Chongqing city and to explore the prevalence, distribution pattern and the trend of disease burden, which can help to determine the priority health problems and provide scientific evidence for effective prevention and control of diseases.MethodsThe burden of diseases was estimated by the use of DALY, two-step method was adopted in the calculation of direct economic burden of disease. DALY combined with the human capital method were used to measure the indirect economic burden.Results1. From 2006 to 2014, the mortality had an increase trend in Chongqing and the mortality rate of female was higher than the female2. From 2006 to 2014, the loss of DALY by all cause for the residents in Chongqing were from 114 to 125 person year per thousand persons. The loss caused by death(YLL) from 51 to 56 person year per thousand persons. The loss caused by disability(YLD) from 63 to 69 person year per thousand persons. The loss of YLD was higher than the YLL. Over time, DALY increased was at a very low level, which was dominated by loss of male.3. The DALY loss showed a”√” curve with the age increase, except for the 0-4 age group showed the relatively high loss, the DALY rate increased from the 5-14 age group. The elderly have a higher YLL losses, Young and middle-aged have a higher YLD losses4. The pattern of burden disease mainly included non-communicable diseases, accounted for 76%-82%, followed by injure, the lowest for infectious diseases.5. The five leading diseases of BOD in Chongqing were malignant tumor, circulatory system disease, respiratory system diseases, neuropsychiatric disease and injure. As the time goes by, the BOD of chronic diseases,such as the malignant tumor and circulatory system disease had become more serious6. The total economic burden of disease was 1621.34 million RMB in Chongqing in 2013, which account for 12.68% of GDP. Compare with 2008, the economic burden added 1029 million RMB, and the average growth rate was 22.31%.7. The family financial risks rate increased with the time increase.ConclusionFrom 2006 to 2014, the BOD and EBOD had an increase trend in Chongqing, the burden of male was higher than the female. The elderly have a higher YLL loss, Young and middle-aged have higher a YLD loss, so, for different crowd should take different prevention measures. The pattern of disease burden had been changed, the non-communicable diseases, accounted play a primary role. The BOD and EBOD of malignant tumor and circulatory system disease had become more serious. They had brought a heavy disease and economic burden to the individual, family and society, so emphasis should be put on the health education of the whole population. Encourage residents form healthy behaviors and lifestyles and to avoid the risk factors. In a word, we should take efficient measures to prevent and control these chronic diseases.
