Cichorium glandulosum Boiss. et Huet belongs to the family Compositae,It is distributed in xinjiang provinces of China and its nearby country. It is a drug habitually used by the Uygur nationality. It has the functions of clearing away the heat-evil and expelling superficial evils, invigorating the stomach, inducing diuresis to reduce edema. Therefore it is used for the treatment of jaundice with damp-heat pathogen, stomachache and little-eating, oedema and oliguria. So it has great development value. The chemical constituents of Cichorium glandulosum Boiss. et Heut were studied by diatomaceous silica, silica gel, gel column chromatography, thin-layer chromatograph,physicochemical and spectrum characteristics to isolate and identify chemical constituents. In the meantime we researched extraction and purification of Flavonoids in Cichorium glandulosum Boiss. et Huet and the nutritional ingredient of Cichorium glandulosum Boiss. et Huet seed,for its later provided reference value and theory evidence for the application of food and the pharmaceutical industry.The extraction technology of Flavonoids in Cichorium glandulosum Boiss. et Huet was reaserched. It was proved that flavonoid was exist in Cichorium glandulosum Boiss. et Huet with experiments. Optimum extracting conditions of flavonoids of the Cichorium glandulosum Boiss. et Huet were determined by orthogonal experiment.The result showed that the best extraction conditions was as follow:the ethyl alcohol density was 70%, extract two times, each time for 2 hour, the temperature was 80℃, the ratio of solid to liquid was 1:25. Under this condition the content of flavonoid in Cichorium glandulosum Boiss. et Huet extraction was 15.16mg/g. The ratio of extraction wasl9.84%.through HPD-100 macroporous resin purified the content of flavonoid in Cichorium glandulosum Boiss. et Huet extraction.The nutritional ingredient of Cichorium glandulosum Boiss. et Huet seed was studied in this paper. The results showed that the content of crude protein was 20.50% the content of amino acid was 15.7%, and the content of crude fatty was 18.3% There are great quantity of unsaturated fatty acids which is necessary for human body in Cichorium glandulosum Boiss. et Huet seed oil. The main composition were Iinonic acid (73.3%), stearic acid(3.7%), palmitic acid (10.1%) and oleic acid (13.0%). In addition, there are 17 amino acids and 9 mineral elements exist in Cichorium glandulosum Boiss. et Huet seed, among that the total content of amino acid reaches 15.7%.The chemical constituents of alcoholic extraction of Cichorium glandulosum Boiss. et Huet was stuidied.Ten constituents were isolated from the herb of Cichorium glandulosum Boiss. et Huet by repeated chromatography. The structures of four were elucidated on the basis of their physicochemical and spectral data. Respectively:Stigmasterol-3-O-glucoside, esculetin, esculin, Saccharose.
