As the founder of Modern new Confucianism, Xiong Shi-Li advocated “the unity ofSubstance and Function”,“awaking to original substance” was the main line throughout thesystem of Xiong Shi-Li’s philosophy. It is known to all that New Theory ofConsciousness—Only associated with Consciousness—Only, and New Theory ofConsciousness—Only with process of critique in “Consciousness—Only” for established“New Theory of Consciousness—Only”.A Survey of Consciousness—Only was published in1923, and New Theory ofConsciousness—Only simplified Chinese edition was published in1944, also markedformation of philosophical system of Xiong Shi-Li. In23years, Xiong Shi-Li had publishedmany works of “Consciousness—Only”. This article is mainly concentrated in Xiong Shi-Li’sstudy on the writings of these23years. This period is the maturity of Xiong Shi-Li’s thoughtin the early stages. Therefore, this article focuses on Xiong Shi-Li how to learn from the“Consciousness—Only” and Confucianism in the transformation of “New Theory ofConsciousness—Only”. In this transformation process, this article discussed on“Epistemology”﹑“Ontology”﹑“Generation”﹑the reveal of “Original Substance”,highlights the difference between “Consciousness—Only” and “New Theory ofConsciousness—Only” in the following content: In transformation of Epistemology, theObject and Consciousness, which were separated by the “Consciousness—Only”, XiongShi-Li blended the Object and Consciousness as a whole; In transformation of Ontology,Xiong Shi-Li transformed the “Alayavijnana seeds”“breeding” and “new seeds” for“Function is Original Substance”; In transformation of Generation, Xiong Shi-Li transformedthe “Arising from Conditional Causation” for “variation of Xi and Pi”.From the perspective of this article is based on Xiong Shi-Li, with difference in“Consciousness—Only” and “New Theory of Consciousness—Only”. On the reveal of“Original Substance” was mainly discussed at the end of the article, also to restore thetraditional Confucianism about “Mind”﹑“Intellect”﹑“Consciousness” and gave aintroduction of Mental Experiment on “Original Substance” such as Look within﹑SuddenEnlightenment and so on.Finally, this article is based on Xiong Shi-Li’s “Original Substance” and “Original Mind”, with Preliminary Studies on “Unity of man with Heaven”. Mental Experiment on “OriginalSubstance” that also awareness of “Original Mind”, this understanding is still knowledgecontent, it was understanding and fit in with the Truth by our “Original Mind”. Both twodimensions started simultaneously, with constant turning of “Original Substance” and Peopleunderstand things. The perception from our “Original Mind”, as human knowledge, bepreserved with Science. This is “Archimedes” what people know and grasp for “OriginalSubstance”. The Integration between “Original Substance” and “Original Mind” changes to“heaven-man” relationship in Chinese traditional philosophy.
