Daphne du Maurier is regarded as one of the masters of Gothic novels in the history ofliterature. Rebecca, her most successful work, published in1938, became popular andcaptured the interest of domestic and overseas readers and literary critics. The themes oflove, gothic and morality as well as class are the traditional analysis of the novel. Otherfocuses such as its narrative ski1ls, writing styles and language have also been studied. There are also some studies of the novel from the angle of feminism, symbolism andarchetypal criticism. However, few critics have studied the novel from the perspective ofeco-feminism, which is the combination of feminist criticism and ecological criticism. Mythesis tries to apply eco-criticism to analyze the relationship between women and nature aswell as the male domination over women and nature.
