| With the rapidly increasing of social competition and the inherent difference ofindividual psychological factors, college students are likely to suffer anxiety duringsocial interaction. In China, as many as40.45%college students are tortured byanxiety, and the changes of social relationship caused by life events are always mainsources that provoke anxiety. Due to adopting different strategies to adjust cognitiveemotion, individuals will show different anxiety reactions when experiencing similarlife events. Therefore, research on relation between college life events, cognitiveemotion regulation and social anxiety has considerable realistic significance.By conducting a questionnaire among443college students on their life events,cognitive emotion regulations and social anxiety, this article focused on analyzingdifferences among these three factors in partial demography variables, and onrevealing the relation and internal connection among these three factors. The researchfound that:(1) College students confront life events in general, and no gender differenceexists in life events. However, there are obvious differences caused by majors, gradesas well as locations of hometown exist in life events.(2) Most college students would adopt negative to adjust cognitive emotionafter encountering negative life events. While gender, major, grade and location ofhometown causing significant difference on negative cognitive emotion regulation,they cause no difference on positive cognitive emotion regulation.(3) The level of social anxiety in this research sample is clearly higher than thenorm. Social anxiety that college students suffer shows no difference on gender butsignificant difference on majors, grades and locations of hometown.(4) Life events that college students face have a positive correlation with socialanxiety, and are useful in predicting the incidence of social anxiety.(5) Negative cognitive emotion regulation has positive correlations with lifeevents and with social anxiety, and is useful in predicting them.(6) Positive cognitive emotion regulation has negative correlations with lifeevents and with social anxiety, and is useful in predicting them. (7) Cognitive emotion regulation plays an intermediating role in the process thatlife events influence social anxiety. |
