This report is a translation project report which is written based on the translation of theSixth and the Seventh Chapter in An Introduction to Foreign Language Learning andTeaching. With the guidance of the translation theory of George Steiner, especially of hisFourfold Translation Motion Theory, this report will mainly analyze the translation processabout such problems met as how to translate names, terminologies, sentences with simplestructures and sentences with complicated structures, and about the solutions related of thetranslator who is a student of English major and is not quite familiar with linguistics duringher translation. This report, through the method of literature and demonstration, presents thetranslator’s general translation process under Steiner’s translation theory, including the casestudy of the translator’s translation during the period of trust, aggression, incorporation andcompensation. The case study mainly focuses on how the translator analyzes and understandsthe original text and how the translation version finally comes out. All these help thetranslator to have a better theoretical understanding toward her own translation process.Besides, it provides a source material for analyzing translation process that the report presentsthe translator’s translation process.
