Mr. PengXiuwen is Chinese famous contemporary national orchestral music composer, conductor and one of the founders of the national orchestra nowadays."PengXiuwen model" is the most representative creative form and band pattern in the middle of the last century in China, so far it has far-reaching influence.This article is divided into two chapters. Chapter one introduces Mr. PengXiuwen’ life and the characteristic of Mr. Peng’ composition.Chapter two is divided into four sections analyzing the orchestrational characteristics of Mr. Peng’ national orchestral music. The first section elaborates on the number of national orchestra, sound effects and developing status of the band combinations which is from small, medium and large orchestra establishment period. The second section analyzes the timbre which Mr. Peng used different timbres in musical composition, as well as the famous "combining tone" which was proposed by Mr. Peng. The third section sets out the range of various threads of music in the different period and the range of a band. And expounds the volume which is the contrast and the balance in Mr. Peng’music composition. The Content involves the dozens of famous representative national orchestral music, and Chinese national orchestra’s development under the influence of Mr. Peng.In the conclusion part, it is summarized the orchestrational characteristics of the national orchestral musical composition. Mr. Peng’s contribution to orchestration has certain representativeness, pioneering and also more prominent comparing the effects. Therefore, from a certain perspective, Mr. Peng’ creative work Complied with an era and what’s more it leads an era.
