As a student of Hunan province unified organization, Hunan students federation is theproduct of the may fourth movement. It was founded in1919on May28, and stopped due toMa Re incident in1927.From1919to1927, Hunan student association was first established, then dissolve and atlast changed into scholars association. Hunan students federation was founded on May28,1919, then set out to organize students to take part in the anti-imperialist patriotic movementat once, the growing patriotic enthusiasm of Hunan students makes Zhang Jingyao becomeangry, and disbanded the student association of Hunan by force on August10,1919.With thedevelopment of the anti-Zhang movement, the student of Hunan reconstructed on November16,1919. from May27to29,1925, it held its first provincial conference in Changsha,during which the student association of Hunan was changed into student association inHunan province. In the process, its structure has the evolved unceasingly, and it also involvedin many significant activities. Contacting and helping students associations all over thecountry and leading the students association in Hunan is its basic function. For local studentsassociation of Hunan, the Hunan student association more often give them guidance,especially after changing into the provincial association, students associations have beensetting up around the province in a short time, while its influence and leadership is becomingmore and more outstanding.Under the leadership of the student association in Hunan, thestudents in Hunan launched a vigorous anti-Japanese patriotic movement, anti-Zhangmovement, actively participated in Hunan autonomy movement, the Christian movement,anti-Zhao Hengti campaign as well as the national revolution movement. In addition thestudent association has formed a leading foreign committee in Hunan, fighting the invasion ofimperialism. Besides, its also carried out anti-Japanese patriotic movement, opposed warlordpolitics, and published journals to vigorously promote the anti-imperialist and anti-feudalideas. The official organ of the students the Xiangjiang Review and Student AssociationWeekly criticized the Japanese imperialism and corruption of warlords with sharp words,trying to seek the path of salvaging the country and the nation, further awakening the citicens,bravely fighting against feudal forces and imperialism.In a word, the student association led the student movement in Hunan, not only did itpromote the development of the May fourth movement in Hunan, but also spreaded the new ideas, new culture, made great contributions to the new-democratic revolution in Hunan.
