A Study Of Bronze Percussion Instruments’ Processes Of Manufacturw In Bobai County, Guangxi

Bronze percussion instruments， especially the gongs and cymbalsare very important folk percussion instruments of Guangxi， which havea long history and ancient tradition. And they are an integral part of themost important folk activities of Guangxi. On the basis of the fieldresearch， the author makes a preliminary summary and research onprocesses of manufacture and its processes’ characteristics of bronzepercussion instruments in Bobai county， Guangxi. The body of thearticle is divided into five parts: the first part is the theoretical basis ofbronze percussion instruments， including the definition， classificationand usage of bronze percussion instruments， the gongs’history origin aswell as the history of Guangxi people using bronze percussioninstruments， which all elaborate on the basic knowledge of bronzepercussion instruments. The second part makes an detailed introductionabout the field research一一the basic situation of history， humanitiesand folk customs in Bobai county， as well as its inheritor， Master ZengZhaotai and his inheritance way. The third part is a detailed description ofbronze percussion instruments’ processes of manufacture by comparingthe differences of the modern and ancient formulas and their processes，which focuses on describing the processes of manufacture of ZengBrothers’ cymbals workshop in Bobai county， so that we can try torestore traditional processes of China’s bronze percussion instruments.The fourth part is， through description about bronze percussioninstruments， analyzing and summarizing the characteristics of theprocesses of manufacture of Zeng Brothers’ workshop. The fifth part isproposing suggestion to the protection of Bronze percussion instrumentsand China’s intangible cultural heritage.
