| This essay will discuss the problem of being and truth in Heidegger’s "The Origin of the Work of Art" by analyzing the most important concepts and the structure of this text. And the purpose and the train of thought of this text will be also investigated. This essay will comb the concepts and structure according to the order in Heidegger’s text:the aim of the first chapter includes1) analyzing how and why Heidegger criticized the traditional explanations of "thing";2) concluding the common ground and the basic feature of the three traditional "thing-explanations";3) analyzing Heidegger’s illustration of the relationship between thing and utensil and comparing the concept of utensil in "The Origin of the Work of Art" and that in Being and Time. The second chapter seeks to comb the "world" and "earth" concepts and illustrate the relationship between "covering" and "uncovering", and on this account the relationship between work, world and earth and that between essence and truth will be also clarified. Chapter three aims to analyzing Heidegger’s concepts of "creation" and "conservation" of the work of art, and the relation between art, poetry and truth will be illustrated by example. As a conclusion, the purpose of Heidegger’s text will be discussed and the concept of "being" will be compared with that in Being and Time in order that the developing of Heidegger’s concept of "being" will be discussed. |
