As the number of people who choose to learn Chinse is becoming largerand larger, the career of TCFL has accelerated the pace of the development.Thereexits a common phenomenon of emphasizing pronunciation and grammar,andneglecting the teaching of vocabulary.However, vocabulary teaching is necessary anddifficult in the primary stage of TCFL. In this paper, the status of research on teachingmethods and teaching in the primary stage of vocabulary were analyzed.Congnitive-functional approach is not just simply combining congnitive approach andfunctional approach,but stressing the organic combination of both. This approachadvocates student-centered teaching.And believes that the teachers’ task is to giveeffective corpora for students to take the initiative to cognitive linguistic rules. Finally,the vocabulary of Class One of the book of "Magic English-Elementary SpokenChinese (lower)" is selected as example of teaching design.
