Task-based Language Teaching has been more than30years old, since it sprangup in1979.It rose abroad firstly. However, with theories growing mature, it has beenaccepted by the field of Foreign Language Teaching in China and statrs an onslaughtabout studying this subject. Recently, the field of Foreign Language Teaching inChina introduces Task-based Language Teaching and pays close attention to it. At thevery beginning, researchers of Task-based Language Teaching focus on theories andteaching. Later on, they turn to studying how to compile and write textbooks. Butmost of these researches are about writing textbooks of professional and special skills,such as: oral teaching materials, Business Chinese Textbook, etc. We rarely seeresearches about comprehensive teaching materials. Therefore, under such a situation,I will do some researches about comprehensive courses through analyzing《Experiencing Chinese*.Intermediate Course I》,with a wish that my acadcmicviews will be helpful to further researches about how to write teaching materials.At the beginning of this article is the introduction,which introduces the reason ofwhy choosing this topic,the review on the research,the theories,methods and materialsadopted in the article.In chapter one,we introduce the framework of the textbook that is studied firstly,enabling the reader to have a general understanding of the framework of the book.Secondly, we analyze the tasks chosen in this book, including projects and content ofthese tasks. In chapter two, we analyze the types of the task rfom two different angles,respectively rfom the angle of specific language skills, the cognitive characteristics inthe process of completing the tasks,aiming to analyze whether the arrangement ofdifferent kinds of tasks in the textbook is balanced.In chapter three, we analyze the arrangement and designing of the task. In the partof the arrangement, we analyze the characteristics of it firstly; Then we analyze thearrangement of tasks in this book comparing with the modle of the task-basedlearning. In the part of the designing, we analyze how the tasks is designed in thistextbook compared to the principles of designing tasks in task-based learning and thenput forward some advice when designing tasks.Chapter four is the part of conclusion. We summarize the advantages anddisadvantages of the compiling of this book based on the analysis above and thenprovide the corresponding suggestion for compiling.
