The TV series development in China can be traced back to the broadcast of “abite of vegetable pancake” in1958. After more than half a centur of evolution anddevelopment, now watching TV series have become the most popular and favoriteway of entertainment among Chinese public. In many types of TV series, familyethical TV series have won the affection of many audience, this is mainly becausethey are close to the real life of ordinary people. However, due to the development ofthe feminist movement, many people care about and study the development statusof women, all these promote the further development of feminist theory, manyscholars are studying the "female images" in the media, but few studies the "maleimages", all these are hitting the male-dominated system. With the continuousdevelopment of society, the male images in family ethical TV series have a profoundchange, so the study of male image in Chinese family ethical TV series can make upfor the lack of existing research, it is significant.This thesis selects9typical male images in Flying Goddess Award-winningdomestic family ethical TV series since1990, through the analysis of the imagechanges, based on the gender angle of view and micro view, trying toexplore themselves reflectting the changes of the mainstream consciousness in thesociety from their evolution male images, to promote people to rethink and recognizerelationships between family and social in the reality life. Then studying the imageevolution and the reasons behind the discourse power for male image, to furtherexplore the responsibility of the family ethical TV series.This thesis is divided into six chapters: the first chapter is an introduction,elaborated the background of selected topic, research purpose and significant, thenraised the issue of the study, research objects, research methodology, literature review,and innovation of this thesis and dissertation structural arrangements. The secondchapter defines the definition of the concept of Chinese family ethical TV series, thedevelopment process as well as the "Flying Award" concept, elaborated the reasons ofselecting "Flying Goddess Award" winners for the study. The third chapter selected some representative cases from the "Flying Goddess Award-winning Chinese familyethical TV series", an attempt to interpret the text by analyzing the "good man" imageof traditional virtues in1990-1999, the "big man" image that is a symbol of malediscourse in early21st century and the "little man" image that is a symbol ofconsumption in recent years. The fourth chapter analyzes the male image changs, atthe same time, trying to explore the evolution of the male image behind the power ofwords and image reasons behind the changes. The fifth chapter analyzes the newcentury family ethical TV series "homogenization male image building","kitschshape of the characters","distorted view of marriage" and other aesthetic image of theplight of combing through and trying to think about the ethical responsibility of thefamily ethical TV series: Family ethical TV series should inherit and carryforward the excellent culture of the Chinese nation, get rid the tendency of kitsch, toconstruct the right socialist values, to create a more excellent domestic family ethicalTV series cultural space full of vitality. The sixth chapter is the conclusion of thethesis.
