The Male Study Of Domestic Drama Since The New Period

In recent years, with the development of gender theory, the study of male image transferred from the sociological research into the literary theory category, meanwhile, study of male image in family drama achieved great development. This paper aims to study the male images in the domestic family drama in the background of gender theory and popular culture. The reasons of the male images'development in domestic family drama will be clarified from the view of text and culture through the diachronic evolution and synchronic analysis that will be accomplished by using narrative, sociology, gender theory and psychoanalysis. In addition to the introduction and conclusion, this paper will be divided into three chapters.A clear idea of the paper is proposed in the introduction section that has briefly described the significance of this subject, the theoretical background and the research: status of male images in family drama both at home and abroad. The longitudinal carding of the development of family drama and the three main types of male images has been done in the first chapter. In the second chapter, the narrative characteristics of family drama and its influence to male image will be analyzed by narrative theory from the synchronic perspective. In the third chapter, the reasons for the evolution of male image will be deduced by the conversion of male image and the development of male status. The conclusion noints out the problems of male imape in familv drama goodwill or ugliness instead of aesthetic feeling, has become the main feature of male image. Take the humane and modernity into account, the male image in family drama has to be transformed to pursuit truth, goodwill and aesthetic feeling.There are two innovations in this article. Firstly, this paper has expanded the breadth and depth of the study about male images in family drama. Secondly, the new gender theory as well as the multiple theoretical tools has been adopted in this paper to construct the three-dimensional and integrated research svstem.
