Confucianism culture is an important component of the traditional Chineseculture, and it is for Buddhist culture too. They learn from each other, and still holdrespective distinctive office. Academy is the institution which spreads theConfucianism thought. What temple spreads is the Buddhistic ideology.In the ancient China, the academy education and the temple education of zenwere both prosperous in Jiangxi Province. They both had the function of education.We can study the traditional Chinese teaching by the Study Rules and the MonasticRules.Since the first appearance of Study Rules, after many years’ accumulation, mostacademies had their own Study Rules. In the tang dynasty,Monk Baizhangestablished the first Monastic Rules which had a far-reaching influence, it is theMonastic Rules of Monk Baizhang. After that, the Monastic Rules of Monk Baizhang,complement ceaselessly and perfect. So the Monastic Rules’ effect on the templeeducation of zen was obvious.The article is to research teaching methods, study methods, course, teachingmanagement of the Study Rules of Academies and the Monastic Rules.Then discusswhat cause the similarities and differences on teaching. Dig deeper the traditionaleducation ideas’ important value at present.In summary, academy has seven teaching methods, including lecture method,excitation method, practice method and so on. Zen’s temple has seven teachingmethods, including lecture method, Banghe method, practice method and so on.They both attached great importance to morality, cognition and aesthetic. Thenagain, there are some rules of Zen about physical and labour education.In management which about students’ study, they both payed attention to obeythe rules and used the same form of teaching. Although with different focuses, theyboth accepted the effective function of the management out of class.
