Research On Cotemporary Heritage Of Chinese Traditional Festivals

Chinese traditional holiday have been circulated for thousands of years, and it is amanifestation of traditional Chinese culture and an important part of that. It show people thespirit world of the Chinese nation and people’s pursuit of a better life in an entertaining andsubtle way. And the same time, it is an important carrier to carry forward the fine traditionalChinese culture. From the perspective of modern society and ideas to tap festivals andcontemporary meaning of traditional festivals, we can play and expand its social function,strengthen its social cohesion, and it’s meaningful for inheritting traditional culture, enhancingnational cohesion, enhancing national significance of soft power. However, Chinesetraditional festivals showed a trend of poor in recent years, public enthusiasm graduallyreduced. How modern elements can integrated into the traditional festivals, play and expandthe connotation of the traditional festival, is a real problem.In this paper, we will take the Spring Festival as an example, and have a contrastiveanalysis of the past and the present Spring Festival’s situation by means of the literaturemethod, interview method and observation method, try to find it’s reason behind of the SpringFestival’s social status fell, festival customs simple, functional desalt, etc. On this basis,according to these reasons, we can find measures and ways to inheritance and developmenttraditional festivals, provide power for the development of traditional festivals incontemporary society.Through investigation and analysis, the study reached the following conclusions: Theimprovement of living standards reduced people’s demand for material and yearning, andreduced the social expectations of traditional festival; Western holidays than traditionalfestival open and entertaining stronger, by contrast, people’s participation is higher forwestern festival; The development of modern science and technology and the spread ofscientific ideas preempted the traditional festival "ghosts" thought, people’s fear for traditionalholiday greatly reduced, traditional festival vulgar inheritance space is significantly reduced;Modern lifestyle and traditional festival customs activities form idea conflict, traditional festival customs gradually give way to the modern way of life.Based on the above analysis and conclusions, this paper made recommendations andmeasures for responding these questions and conclusions. In the current information age,multicultural world, the gradual integration of Eastern and Western culture, traditionalfestivals can not be forgotten, and it should and must fully play its role and functions as a wayto continuate the Chinese history, to increase national cohesion and enhance the country’s softpower. Conflicts and differences between traditional festival of contemporary society, andshould be adjusted according to actual needs, to provide a path for the development ofcontemporary heritage and traditional festivals. Ideally, the traditional festival of itsdevelopment should be able to integrate into contemporary society, its festive connotationsand social functions should be full played. To achieve this ideal goal, we must fully mobilizegovernments, public media and home personal initiative and enthusiasm, government guide,public opinion boost, family practice, to bring about the traditional festival’s contemporarydevelopment.
