| This is a report based on the author’s translation of the introduction and the first three chaptersof Culture Smart-Morocco. This report consists of the translation project, the background of thesource text, the translation process, the difficulties and strategies of translating tourist texts.From the perspective of Skopos theory and for the common difficulties of translating Englishtourist texts, such as the translation of loanwords, technical terms, characteristic words and longsentences, the author uses some typical examples in the translated text and tries to work outsome proper methods to translate English tourist texts.In the English-Chinese translation practice, in view of the communicating purpose of touristtexts, the translated text should focus on the target readers, so the author adopts some flexibletranslation methods, such as amplification&annotation, omission and adaptation to make thetranslated text faithful, coherent, clear and interesting, and to maximize the intended function ofthe translated text and achieve the ultimate goal of the translation of tourist texts, thus to showthe cultural glamour of Morocco, attract more Chinese tourists, deepen Chinese understanding ofMorocco, and promote the external exchange of the tourist culture between China and Morocco,Moreover, to some degree this report can enrich domestic research on tourist texts, and canprovide some reference for translating Chinese tourist resources and domestic research ontranslating from Chinese to English. |
