With its fast and accurate characteristics, photography has been widely used inarchitectural teaching and researches. Architectural photographers usetwo-dimensional images to express three-dimensional special feelings ofconstructions, also translate the design intent on the two-dimensional image. Withthe continuous evolution and development of architectural design, traditionalphotographic methods have been limited to meet the challenges of diversearchitectural design brings to photography.Traditional architectural photography follows the compositional principles ofclassical painting during the shoot. By comparing the development and evolution ofarchitectural photography and painting, the similarity could be found; this similarityis reflected in the composition of elements, composition principles and patterningmethods. The purpose of traditional composition is to create an illusion ofthree-dimensional objects on a two-dimensional plane, in order to reproduce thesense of space of three-dimensional objects. However, since the Impressionistpaintings gradually abandoned the realistic approach, using non-traditional way toconvey emotion is a characteristic of modern painting. In the19th century, Westernpainting began to show a variety of styles, the character they all have in common isembodied rebellion against traditional painting.Contemporary architectural photography still using traditional methods torestore a sense of space in the picture. The breaking of cubist painting to thetraditional composition could be an important reference value for contemporaryarchitecture photography. First of all, through the analysis of Cubist paintingscharacteristics such as the plane of its features and the decomposition andreconstruction could be found. Then use a specific shot method and post-processingsoftware to make architectural photography with Cubism characteristics, therebycreating a cubist style which is different from the traditional architecturalphotography. Finally, using the Jewish Museum in Berlin architectural photographyas an example of the Cubism architectural photography. The detailed steps from theconception of the photography to the post-processing proved the feasibility of themethod. Cubist architectural photography make photos no longer limited to building the"shaped", but is able to convey the "meaning" of the architecture. Thus to makemore in-depth architectural photography and broadened the expression boundariesof architectural photography.
