This is a translation report on the project of the part one of Eating Well for a Healthy Pregnancy by Dr. Helen Crawley, a British nutritionist working for the non-governmental organization of FAO. The part one — Advice on eating well in pregnancy — belongs to the informative text, in which Dr. Crawley answers the questions about the health of diet for the pregnant that people are most concerned and offers detailed advice on healthy eating. The report consists of four chapters: chapter one is the brief introduction to the translation project, including the background information, the project objectives as well as significance and the report structure; chapter two is the analysis of the original text, including the introduction to the author and the stylistic and linguistic features of the original text; chapter three is the translation process of the project, which is also the core part of this report, including difficulties in translation, preparations for the translation, and translation strategies being adopted. Instructed by Newmark’s communicative translation theory and combined with the translation practice of the translator’s own, the report discusses what should be noted during the translation of the informative texts; chapter four is the conclusion of the translation project, including the experience and lessons from the translation as well as the problems to be resolved.
