A Report On Consecutive Interpreting For Interaction Between Doctor And Patient In Huaxia Kidney Disease Research Institute

This is a practice report based on a consecutive interpreting; it describes the process the author works for Huaxia Kidney Research Institute as a consecutive interpreter. The main purpose of the paper is to gain experience for the future interpreting by summarize the lessons the author gets from the process and analyzing the problems the author meets and her solutions towards them.This practice report contains four chapters. The first chapter is a general description of the consecutive interpreting practice. The author introduces the background, the tasks, the service objectives and the requirements of the consecutive interpreting practice for Huaxia Kidney Disease Research Institute. The second chapter is the description of the consecutive interpreting process. In this chapter, the author introduces the preparation of the interpreting, the interpreting process and the handling method after the interpreting. In the third chapter, the author gives a case analysis between Doctor.Li and the foreign patient Donat and she combined related theory analyzed the problems she meets in the interpreting process and gives her solutions. In the fourth chapter, the author gives the summary of the practice. The author summarizes the experience and lessons the author learns from the practice and she expressed her plan for the future interpreting.From the practice in Huaxia Kidney Disease Research Institute, the author not only learned some professional kidney disease knowledge, accumulated the expressions of kidney terms, but also broadened her horizon and knows more clearly what is the responsibility of an interpreter, which laid a good foundation for the future interpreting.
