A Study On Initial Transmission Of Book Of Songs

Studies on Book of Songs are countless. For a long time, most of these studies focused on the text, less focused on that where and how did the poems at that time be transmitted.This thesis analyzed the background of transmission of Book of Songs, the combination of poetry music and dance, studied singers and recipients, singing places and forms of the book of songs, from the angle of the zhou dynasty’s Li-Yue system.This thesis includes five chapters:the introduction; initially singing of Book of songs; The collection and compilation of Book of songs;Teaching, the transmission of Book of songs’ text; From "sound as poem" to "out of context"; The epilogue.The introduction part illustrated the meaning of the research on transmission of Book of songs, and explained the innovation, value and methods of this thesis. The first chapter discussed the initially singing of Book of songs. Firstly explored the certain social environment of Book of songs, the reason of the utilitarian color of initial performance and transmission of Book of songs; Secondly analyzed singers and recipients of Book of songs according to different communication occasions.The second chapter is about the collection and compilation of Book of songs:from the performance form by mouth to collection of text. The third chapter analyzes the "teaching",the important form of transmission of Book of songs, and put forward that "six poems" is six different forms of music and performing forms of Book of songs. The fourth chapter discussed the shift from "sound as poem" to "out of context" of Book of songs. Epilogue generalized the main points of whole thesis.
