There is a lot of death narration in the contemporary fiction of the Hui nationality,revealing the death consciousness existing in the heart of intellectuals who belong to the Hui nationality.The thesis that relies on more than ten palmary novels of the Hui nationality has researched the death consciousness of the Hui nationality in comprehensive view.Based on reading the novels carefully,I have summed up the causation of the death consciousness,found the writing type of the death consciousness, analysed the aesthetic conception of the death consciousness while discussed the significance of the death consciousness.The thesis is made up of three parts which consist of introduction,the main body and conclusion.The introduction of the thesis introduces the situation of the Hui nationality and the novels of the Hui nationality as well as the current status of study concerning the death consciousness of the fictions of the Hui nationality.The straight matter which is the main part of the paper is divided into five chapters.The first chapter which has elucidated what is death and what is the death consciousness is the understructure of research,and it also has discussed the relationship between the death consciousness and literature of the Hui nationality as well as the literature.According to their own emotional logic and the mode of thinking,the authors have transformed the shadow of death which is existing everywhere into the artistic object that can be grasped,which is the prospect of the death made by literature and also has highlighted the unique aesthetic interest of the literature.The second chapter has elaborated the type of writing about the death consciousness in the novel of the Hui nationality,which consists of the death that caused by vulnerable groups lacking care,watcher who persevere in something meaningful,the suffering of cultural conflict,the people who are pious in religion,the devotees who have sacrificed their bodies and the innocent who has lost their bodies by polity.The moving and solemn death phenomena have revealed the capricious fate of characters,manifested the little-known story exsiting in human soul and the depth of social life and contained life experience and deep understanding on life about the narrators.The third chapter has explicated the causation of the death consciousness existing in the novels of the Hui nationality,from several aspects that include the historical context, the cultural context,the political change and the impact of Chinese and foreign culture.Only by understanding the causes of death,can we better avoid death and enjoy the beauty of the life.The fourth chapter has mainly considered the aesthetic conception about the death consciousness in the contemporary fiction of the Hui nationality,which contains two parts,such as death images and aesthetic transcendence.The death images which consist of the moon,the grave,water and the snow mountain have summed up the connotation of these images,dug the poetic expression of the aesthetics of death,reached the theme that the life is finite,however,the art is eternal.The fifth chapter has studied the significance of the death consciousness in the novel of the Hui nationality,having summarized four pieces of idea which comprises criticism of bad religious habit,rethink of the evil existing in human nature,guard of the loyal love and reflection of the life’s value.Life is only once,so to avoid death is human nature as well as the nature of the common law.Death is not terrible,we can obtain the transcendence of the death as long as we can complete the mission so as to realize the value of the individual life in the limited time.The conclusion has discussed the importance of the research about the novel of the Hui nationality,and has looked forward to the future directions about this project.The death writing of the Hui nationality is not performance of despair,but the important coordinate of respecting life and loving life,which is advantageous to propagate the value of individual life,construct the subject consciousness,give the spiritual enlightenment to the live on the basis of the death.
