With the development of China’s economic and society, the demands for high skilled talents continue to increase in the market. At the same time, along with the organization of Hot Spring International Tourism Festival in Xianning City, the brand "City with Fragrant Osmanthus and Spring" has been built. More applied business English talents are needed in the city. As the fundamental task of higher vocational education is to cultivate high skilled talents, students’ English application ability on one hand, and students’ business knowledge and business skills on the other hand, must be trained during the process of talents training for Business English, which put forward higher requirements for the professional practice.After nearly three years’ research and hard exploration, the Business English Major in Xianning Vocational College positioned itself as follows:to develop skilled talents who can speak English with commercial knowledge and have operating ability for regional economic and social development. According to the positioning above, the talent training goal for Business English Major is determined. But the investigation of professional practice teaching shows that students’ practical ability is limited and there is a long way to achieve the talents training target. The construction of practical bases do not meet the students’ demands. More real double-certificate teachers are needed. The practical teaching management appraisal system is loose, and so on.The cultivation of the students’ vocational comprehensive ability largely depends on the practical teaching, by which students’ ability to apply knowledge and skills are developed with the organical mixture of theoretical and practical knowledge. In order to teach effectively, we must rely on the government. Under the accurate positioning, we should set up the content and curriculum for practial teaching and optimize the practical teaching system. Meanwhile, college must establish perfect practical teaching evaluation system and strengthen the construction of practical bases. More important, college needs real double-certificate teachers. Only in this way can we truly exercise the students’ professional quality and enhance employmental power.To sum up, the construction of practical teaching system is the key to the reform of higher vocational education in China, which is also an important part of Business English Major teaching. It affects the quality of this major, and students’ employment as well. The construction and effective implementation of practical teaching system is the key to the realization of the Business English talent training goal, which concerns the survival and development of Business English Major.
