The author found that visualized factors of ‘muted’ inphotographs contains shape, area, color, proportion of the objects and theatmosphere of the image are all the considerable element in the shootingstage by observing the large amount of this kind of photos. At post-productionstage, software like Adobe Photoshop is becoming sophisticated and theapplication in handling a photo’s tone is very general in files of photographyover the last decade, so after analyzed certain principles and methods I try tocombine these functions in the use of perform ‘muted tone’ images.‘Muted tone’ images shall create a whole new aesthetic system if theirnumbers keeps growing, along with the increasing number of representationmethods,‘muted tone’ as means will help photographer to express themselves,and may even be able to guide audience’s aesthetic standards as solitarystyle.
