| With the development of many years, teaching Chinese as a foreign language (TCFL) in China has accumulated rich theories and practical experience in many fields. However, the discovery and research of the teaching model is not deep and mature. The teaching model of TCFL in most universities in China is out of date and inefficient. Therefore, it is particularly urgent and important to make deep discussion and perfect construction for the teaching model of TCFL. Undoubtedly, the research of related questions will be helpful to improve the efficiency and quality of TCFL.Based on the practical investigation and research of Alliance Chinese program in Shanghai, this dissertation makes detailed description and analysis for it using the theories in applied linguistics, education and psychology. It analyzes and researches the teaching procedures in class in details, evaluates the advantages and disadvantages objectively, and discusses the referential values for TCFL in domestic universities, so as to put forward valuable suggestions and ideas for reforming and perfecting the teaching model of TCFL.This dissertation consists of five chapters,Chapter one introduces the reason of choosing this topic, the current situation of the studies, the purpose, the significance, the approaches and thoughts of this research. Through studying the present situation, we discover that the researches of Middlebury Model applied in domestic Chinese program in China are few, however, it is very meaningful and valuable to research new Chinese teaching models in China. This dissertation mainly aims to introduce the teaching model in classes of Alliance Chinese program in Shanghai, evaluate the advantages and disadvantages, analyze the inspirations for TCFL in China, and propose plans and suggestions for the reform and innovation of TCFL in China. The significance of this dissertation is to know the advanced and new Chinese teaching models in China and foreign countries, to provide references for similar researches afterwards and to push the reform of TCFL in China. Chapter two records and analyzes the representative teaching cases in different classes of Alliance Chinese program in Shanghai. Abundant examples prove that Alliance attaches importance to practices. Each example in classes is close to the context, and the design of each language activity is close to the need of communication. Practice is the crucial reason for the students to master the knowledge of language and learn to communicate.Chapter three evaluates the teaching model in classes of Alliance Chinese program in Shanghai, summarizes and analyzes its advantages and disadvantages. Practical teaching ideas and effective practices provide references for TCFL in China’s universities. However, to some extent, teaching during the classes of Alliance puts too much on obeying the methods of practice, and attaches too much importance on students’abilities of listening and speaking, which shows the problems of its teaching mcdel. These problems also are those that exist in the researches of TCFL and related fields in China’s universities, which can accelerate us to make further thinking and studying.Chapter four discusses the inspirations of Alliance Chinese program in Shanghai for TCFL in China’s universities, and puts forward suggestions and plans for reforming the teaching model. Even though the environment and conditions are different, it is impossible for TCFL in China’s universities to copy Alliance Chinese program in Shanghai completely, there are many for us to learn such as regarding students as the core, attaching importance to practice, paying attention to team work among teachers, firm but pleasant management, etc.Chapter five summarizes the main points and conclusions of this dissertation, points out the shortcomings and mentions the other problems that need to be explained. |
