| With an increasing number of foreign electronics flooded into Chinese market, the translation of electronics instruction attracts more and more attention. However, due to the lack of systematic theoretic guidance and research in this field, the translation quality of many electronics instructions varies and is not satisfactory currently. Under such circumstances, based on the researches of the previous scholars, this thesis takes the English electronics instructions translated by the author himself as the research object to discuss the features of English electronics instructions in details through case analyses. The analyses show that, as a particular text, English electronics instructions have their unique lexical, syntactic and discourse features. Meanwhile, in combination with Functional Equivalence theory, this thesis analyzes the E-C translation principles of English electronics instructions in light of functional equivalence. Finally, based on these translation principles, five frequently-used translation methods are proposed, including literal translation, free translation, transference, transformation and combined methods. |
