The Research On Inkstones Of Northern Wei Dynasty

The inkstone is one of the chinese traditional stationery which is also a unique testimony of ancient civilization development.The inkstone has been accompanied by the development of social history.Not only has become the witness of China’s culture,but also are a set of material,carving,calligraphy. It collected many kinds of arts and crafts. So it has nurtured a culture of inkstone.There are lots of inkstones were inherited by the family,while many inkstones were found by the archaeological excavation. Both of them are the most important physical data for the research.Based on more than 100 pieces of inkstones which were unearthed from the tombs and sites after 1949. Try to study the characteristics and evolution of inkstones in the Wei and Jin Southern and Northern Dynasties.The inkstones of the Northern Wei Dynasty are used to be the research object,carries on the thorough analysis to its shape,material and decoration. The first chapter is the significance of the topic and research methods,to illustrate the unearthed research situation of inkstones in the Wei and Jin Dynasties. The second chapter uses typology principle carries on the classification to shape and type of the inkstones in the Wei and Jin Dynasties,try to sum up the characteristics of the inkstone in this period. The third chapter carries on the analysis to the inkstone of Northern Wei Dynasty,find out the evolution of the characteristics of this period of the development and rule of the inkstone. The forth chapter is about a special inkstone which is unearthed in the southern suburbs of Datong city. Try to analysis of the characteristics of the excavated sites of this inkstone, and also focus on the background and decoration,design,sculpture and other point of view. The last chapter is the conclusion.
