Complement has been the focus and difficulty in Chinese as a foreign languageteaching. Potential complement as the Chinese daily communication is one of thecommonly used languages in particular. Due to the difficulty of complement, the errorsmade by students’rate are very high. This article attempts from the perspective of Chineseas a second language learner, and has a research of the students’errors of complement andreasons.Potential complement is unique in Chinese grammar rules, because in otherlanguages are hard to find the corresponding rules of grammar. Potential complement isvery difficult. Many learners don’t have a good grasp of understanding potentialcomplement, and are easy to cause errors. Sometimes learners can’t have normalcommunication, and sometimes they use simple verb "can" and other words instead ofPotential complement. There are a lot of experts and scholars doing the ontology research,but solving the problems in teaching Potential complement at the aspect of teachingChinese as a foreign language is still trying. The problems of Potential complement in theteaching Chinese as a foreign language are still to be solved.The foreigners who begin to learn Chinese may have errors in Potential complementmainly in omission, mistake add, false generation, and wrong order four categories. Thecauses of errors can be divided into teaching materials, teachers, learners’ mother tonguenegative transfer and learners’ attitude problem. The paper tentatively puts forward thecountermeasuresThis paper discusses the international students in the acquisition of errors producedduring the Potentail complement as well as the causes of these errors, and tries to putforward some solving strategies.
