With the rising of the importance of the literacy class teaching, the publications of cultural teaching are springing. The textbook of Chinese as a foreign language culture is a significant component of the textbooks of Chinese for foreigners, and the quality of the culture textbook plays a vital role in effective cultural teaching. Nowadays the types of the textbooks in market are various, and how to choose an appropriate one is a headache problem for many teachers. Since until now there is no recognized level outline and related level standard measurement for the TCFL textbooks, the existing editions of the textbooks are various but complicated and unordered, and there lacks a classic work. However, it also suggests that the comparative study of the TCFL textbooks is feasible.This paper consists of five chapters:Chapter 1: The theoretical basis of the comparison analysis on the TCFL textbooks. This theoretical basis is introduced from the research significance, the research object, the research content and the research status, foreshadowing for the classification of next chapter and establishing theoretical foundation for later.Chapter 2: Cultural elements. Based on Chapter 1, this part gives a further explanation of the necessity of the classification of the cultural elements, giving the purpose of classification and the angles of classification in details.Chapter 3:The investigations of the surface cultural elements in the textbooks.Two textbooks(<中国概况>and<说汉语,谈文化>)which own different teaching goals are compared.First the scope and characteristics of the surface cultural elements are introduced,then the situation of the surface cultural elements writing is investigated and analyzed.Chapter 4: The investigations of the deep cultural elements in the textbooks. The structure is similar to Chapter 3 but aiming at deep cultural elements.Chapter 5: The assessment and suggestions for textbooks. According to the investigations, two types of textbooks are assessed, and based on the assessment, the writing suggestions are given, which is good for teachers to choose textbooks based on different cultural teaching targets.The conclusion reviews the research idea, and summarizes the research results and contents.
