The Analysis On The Verbs With Predicate Objects In Mordern Chinese

Zhu Dexi(1982) pointed out: "predicate verbs include verbs and adjectives", “ "Predicate are The main functions of the predicate verbs is being used as predicates, and at the same time can also be functioned as the subject or the object." It is a very particular grammar phenomenon in modern Chinese grammar system that predicate verbs function as objects, which is strictly forbidden in the Indo-european language family.With a high frequency of usage on a daily basis in normal life, verbs with pre- dicate objects belong to modern Chinese basic vocabulary. Verbs with predicate objects listed in the Chinese Verb Usage Dictionary is taken as the study object in this dissertation, with other sorts of verbs excluded, and a thorough and elaborate analysis shall be implemented.There are seven sections in this paper.The first section is the introduction part, giving a brief introduction about the research history and current situation. From a historic perspective, the past researches about verbs with predicate objects is systematically presented, with clear classification of what verbs with predicate objects are, definitions pointed out and analytic scope laid out. Moreover, the purposes and significance is also covered in this section.From the Angle of diachronic predecessors’ research on "guest verbs do the introduction of a system, analyses the definition of" bing verb problems, points out that based on the definition of "bing verbs, then gives the scope of this article narrates the research methods of this article and the instructions on the use of the expected, elaborated this article research purpose and meaning.The second part is the illumination of the analysis on verbs with predicate objects. Both lexical nature and expressing function shall have been taken intoconsideration; verbs also get classified according to the different types of objects that follow.In the third part, the lexical configuration and semantic features shall be analyzed.In the fourth part, on the basis of the previous researches and studies, the relations concerning with semantic meanings between the verbs and the following predicate objects shall be discussed and the categorization based on the relation types shall be summarized.The fifth part, some general thinking about the verbs with predicate object shall be laid out.The conclusion part summarize the overall analysis process and propose the research direction in the future study.
