In the field of teaching Chinese as a foreign language, the teaching of Idioms is important. It’s very useful to improve the learners’Chinese reading skill and the ability of expression. It’s also important to enhance the learners’understanding of Chinese culture. In the process of teaching Chinese as a foreign language, the teaching of idioms is important and difficult.According to the idioms from 10 textbooks of teaching Chinese as a foreign language, we summarized the definition of idioms in this paper. Due to the complexity of the idioms and their characteristics different from the general vocabulary, foreign students would make a lot of errors in the acquisition of idioms. On the basis of errors of HSK language database and foreign students’daily homework, we found out that there are mainly four types of errors, namely, form errors, semantic errors, grammar errors and pragmatic errors. Among them, Semantic errors are one of the most. In this paper, the third chapter will analyze the types of errors in detail, and provide examples. Then, this article discusses the present situation of the idioms teaching of teaching Chinese as a foreign language. The present situation of the idioms teaching includes the situation and disadvantages of the orientation of the idioms teaching, the textbooks, the classroom teaching and reference books, etc. Finally, in view of some problems in the idioms teaching, this article puts forward some suggestions about the teaching outline and the teaching textbooks. At the same time, the paper points out that the idioms teaching should pay attention to the idioms’multiple coding, the explanation of emphasis of idioms, the idioms’context teaching, the regular reviewing and cultural factors, etc. It’in urgent need of idioms dictionaries. But it’s also very hard to compile an idioms dictionary. In the process, the editors should attach great importance to the selection and explanation of idioms. Students should cultivate the language sense to reach the automatic operation of idioms.
