The Evolution Of Gender Consciousness In Family Drama Since The New Era

The development of Chinese drama emerged in1958, which has experienced a continuous and hardly process. In this process, the family drama based on real life showed Chinese daily life and the spirit. It is a matter of public’s aesthetic and interesting, and also focuses on the individual life and social values. Along with the economic promotion and the process of China’s modernization and the development of the feminist criticism, the concept of the gender consciousness has become a hot topic in academic research. However, current study on gender consciousness lacked the evolution systematically. It requires further exploration of the evolution of gender consciousness in family drama since the new era.By taking different phases of family dramas in Chinese mainland as the main research object, this paper tries to explore the concept of gender consciousness and its evolution which contains. In the 1980 s,the gender consciousness in China family dramas was covered due to the expression of political demands; with constraints of ethical beauty in the early 1990 s, it was also restricted; as the rising of feminism and the popularity of TV consumptive culture in the new century, the concept of gender consciousness in family dramas only grew and turned to show the multiple aesthetic of today’s trends. This paper is adopting the film theoretical criticism, the analysis of the gender consciousness research especially studying on semiotic of TV text, using the related theory of sociology and cultural studies, focusing on the change of costume, makeup, image and temperament in depth analysis firstly, distribution of power between social space and domestic space secondly, and the subversion and social reconstruction of gender consciousness lastly.TV plays not only presented the social life but alsoreconstructed the concept of popular aesthetics and the ideology by means of aesthetic activity in our daily life.It’s important theoretical and practical significance to reveal the gender consciousness in the connotation of social history culture, to construct bisexual appreciation value of aesthetics, and to break through the limited to a male or female body and sexual experience in traditional study, by exploring the gender consciousness evolution of family drama in China mainland, focusing on social issues related to daily life and aesthetics.
