I choose creation of tamping sand with xiangxi regional characteristics as my post graduate creation motif. With xiangxi local conditions, customs, folk culture and natural scenery as a big background, tamping sand is a breakthrough point for me to understand xiangxi. Here the people are simple and honest. Smoke curl cottages, fertile farmland, dense jungle, rolling hills and gurgling brook form the beautiful scenery of xiangxi. It deeply attracted me and it also inspired sketch creation enthusiasm in me. Having three times deep research into tamping sand painting, I determined my graduation creation theme. In order to complete the creation. I combed the context of the development of Chinese painting in theory first, reading many related theory books. I tried to put the theory into practice to make my paintings more convincing. I copied some of the predencessors’ works, especially of the four who were famous painters in Yuan Dynasty and the four monks literati painters in Qing Dynasty. During the period of being a post graduate, I went to xiangxi to sketch for many times with my tutor, collecting a large amount of data and carrying out life sketch practice. Under the guidance of the tutor, I started to create again and eventually finished my works, I took the sketch in the form of small paintings instead of big panoramic landscape composition mode, which better reflected my feelings on the tamping sand landscape. My creation pursues the purity and freshness. With calligraphy pen show, it is bone at line foru and full of easy willfulness and the inspiration of calligraph. I made every effort to embody the special elements of xiangxi and geographic conditions of natural simplicity. Placing my feelings in the landscape, I want to express my love for culture of xiangxi, the yearning for a quiet life and return to nature.
