| The comprehensive primary course is the fundamental stage for all Chinese textbooks, it is the course for teaching the beginner the basic idea on how to listen, speak, read, and write. Textbook is one of teaching materials which support effectiveness of teaching. Students learn both language and culture from textbook which stimulate learners’interest. The comprehensive primary textbook is the important material to stimulate learners to understand the basic of foreign language.This study was analyzed and compared text book "Road to success" with "Chinese Textbooks". The "Road to success" was published by College of Advanced Chinese Training, BLCU. This set of textbooks included all the basic skills that the beginners need to learn. Nowadays many Chinese & Thai universities and colleges have started to use this set of textbooks so it becomes more widely use. Moreover "Chinese Textbook" published by Saowapak Woralakanakul, Ramkhamhaeng University Press is used by Ramkhamhaeng University students and many self-study Chinese learners. With the reasons mentioned earlier, "Chinese Textbook" has become popular and has an influence on the Chinese education in Thailand.Although this two sets of textbooks in the Elementary Chinese Comprehensive Textbook are widely used, the time of publishing and the focus groups of this two sets of textbooks are not the same which make the huge different in those two sets of textbook. Furthermore, there is no related study that compares the difference between these two sets of textbooks.This research mainly analyzed on the phonetics, vocabulary, grammar, Chinese characters, texts, exercises, and cultural aspects. Questionnaires were also designed to gain the students’comments towards the two textbooks. After analyzing the textbooks, this studyalso pointed out the strength and weakness of the two textbooks so that it might be some suggestions for the future authors who want to develop Chinese textbook for Thai learners. |
