The Survival Narrationunderthe Double "Other" Dilemma

The new immigrant literature is extended to overseas Chinese contemporary literature. With the acceleration of globalization and the increasing of the overseas Chinese, new immigrant literature has gradually become an important force in the Chinese literature. The overseas Chinese female in a foreign culture environment are faced with the double " other" dilemma: first of all, diaspora in heterogeneous culture environment,facing with a difficulty to make a living and the dilemma of cultural conflict.Second,compared with men, they also face the differences of gender discourse due to living in the patriarchy society which makes their life situation more difficult. Under the double the plight of "other", they use writing to against the deep-rooted racial discrimination and the patriarchal concept, constituting the special charm of female new immigrant fiction.Yan Geling is one of the most outstanding writer in the overseas Chinese literary world who began to publish works since the 1980 s.She is active in writing and maintain a strong momentum of creation.so far,she has created nearly 20 novels,novellas, and movie and so on more than 50 which caused wide attention both at home and abroad. Yan Geling has a strong cultural identity construction consciousness and profound strong female consciousness,she has been thinking and exploring cultural collision and fusion in the exotic survival environment, her immigrant works invested great efforts to migrants survival and women problem in the post-colonial environment. She explores the oppression of the western powerful culture to the weak culture and writes the fate of the dual identity of the weak female immigrants as well as women’s living conditions in the western strong ethnic and patriarchy double depression environment to excavate female subjectivity consciousness under the background of globalization.This paper in the intention of targeting female writing of Yan Geling’s new immigrant novels as the research object and use post-colonial culture studies and feminist literary criticism methods to analyze Yan Geling’s new immigration works from Yan Geling’s new immigration works. The details are as follows:Firstly, the first chapter analyzes the predicament of racial differences in the Yan Geling’s women: they are “other” in the residence country,faced with the isolation of language,hard to survive, marriage barriers, cultural separation, etc., which all constitute a part of their plight. Secondly, the second chapter is the analysis of gender dilemma under the patriarchal society : they grow up with the dull ache men bring; their pent-up lust is difficult to get release; their body is destroyed by men, at the same time of suffering their female consciousness is awakened, and spirit get the sublimation even back feed the men those bring their suffering. On this basis, the third chapter studies Yan Geling how to construct female subjectivity in her works. Writer describe the history of the women were covered through female perspective and female narrative without hostoricization. At the same time by the attenuation of the male image and the image of "earth mother" to complete the construction of images of female subjectivity further.
